Our Story

“Deena, I think you should become a Disney travel agent?”

It wasn’t the first time that I had suggested to my wife that she should help other families plan trips to Disney World. I thought she would be amazing at it. While I typically plan our vacations, if it has anything to do with Disney, Deena took the reins and loved every second of it, from booking dining to having incredible park strategies.

But she resisted for a while. She was busy and happy working on her other business. But as Remy famously said, “The only thing predictable about life is its unpredictability.”

Despite her protests, I kept kindly nudging her. I had a feeling she would love being a Disney travel agent. I also knew that clients would appreciate her knowledge, attention to detail, and great communication skills.

So, finally, she decided to pursue the opportunity. After a little research, she joined a travel agency as an independent contractor and jumped right in! For the next few years, she stayed at this agency, learning the best ways to help her clients have amazing trips and experiences.

Fast forward to March 2025. While our family was enjoying a cruise aboard the Disney Treasure, Deena and I were talking one evening as we sailed through the Gulf of Mexico. The subject of starting our own travel agency came up.

You see, I was looking for a new opportunity. I had run an insurance agency for many years, successfully growing our business behind a team of high producers. While I didn’t enjoy the insurance business, I absolutely loved working with my agents, teaching them how to differentiate ourselves among other agencies, and providing an incredible experience for our clients.

Once we started talking about the prospect of a new travel agency, we couldn’t stop! I would handle the business side of things, while Deena would continue doing what she loves best -> working with families to plan unforgettable vacations.

Shortly after we got back from that Disney cruise, I started the process of getting the correct licenses and accreditations for a travel agency. And in the summer of 2025, we launched Be Prepared Vacations! (Quick quiz – can you guess what Disney song we named ourselves after? Think of a lion…)

Honestly, it has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made! I love working on the business side of things (and planning Universal Orlando vacations). Deena couldn’t be happier helping families plan their vacations. Clients appreciate her attention to detail and her genuine excitement about helping them experience Disney the way our family has.

What’s Next for Be Prepared Vacations

My goal is to grow Be Prepared Vacations into a team of travel advisors who share the same passion we do. I want to build a group of people who love helping families create new experiences and memories!

Honestly, hearing from a client after their trip that it was smoother, more fun, and less stressful because of our help is the best part of what we do.
