Disney Fantasy – Laundry Facilities Tour & Guide (pics/prices)

Our family finds it incredibly beneficial to do a load of laundry (or two) on any cruise that we go on, even shorter ones! I love that it lets us pack lighter knowing we don’t have to pack multiples of certain clothing. Luckily, Disney Cruise Line makes it easy onboard the Fantasy.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about the self-service laundry rooms onboard the Disney Fantasy, including where they’re located, current pricing, how to purchase detergent, and the full-service laundry and dry cleaning options available.

Self-Service Laundry Rooms

The Disney Fantasy has seven laundry rooms, also called launderettes, located around the ship. No matter where you are staying, there should be a laundry close to your stateroom. Unlike many other cruise ships that only have one or two laundromats, the Fantasy places them throughout the ship.

Laundry rooms are located on Decks 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

The rooms alternate between the forward and aft sections of the ship, so chances are there’s one only a short walk from your cabin. Once onboard, just ask your stateroom host where you can find the nearest laundry location.

All of the self-service laundry rooms are open 24 hours per day.

What You’ll Find Inside

Each laundry room is equipped with everything you need, including:

  • Front-loading washing machines
  • Front-loading dryers
  • Folding counter
  • Ironing board and iron (free to use)
  • Detergent and dryer sheet dispenser

Since there are no irons allowed in your stateroom (fire hazard), these laundry rooms are also the only place where you can iron clothing before Pirate Night, formal night, or dinner at Palo or Remy.

How to Do Laundry

I find it really easy to use the washers and dryers aboard the Disney Fantasy. I especially love that I can use my Key to the World card or MagicBand to pay for it. No getting quarters from a change machine!

After you find an empty machine, just follow the onscreen prompts to make sure selections and begin the cycle.

PRO TIP: Set an alarm on your phone so you don’t forget when you laundry is done. I have definitely been guilty of forgetting and coming back hours later to retrieve my clothes!

How much does laundry cost on the Disney Fantasy?

Prices occasionally change, but current self-service laundry pricing is approximately:

ServicePrice
Washer$3.50 per load
Dryer$3.50 per load
Detergent$1.50
Dryer Sheet$1.50

Everything is charged directly to your onboard account using your Key to the World card or MagicBand. No cash or coins are required.

How to Buy Detergent & Dryer Sheets

If you didn’t pack your own detergent, don’t worry (we never do!).

Each laundry room has an automated dispenser that sells:

  • Laundry detergent
  • Dryer sheets

Simply tap your Key to the World card or MagicBand at the payment kiosk and the charge is added to your stateroom account. The machine then dispenses the detergent or dryer sheet.

Can You Bring Your Own Laundry Detergent?

Absolutely! Many experienced Disney cruisers prefer to bring a few laundry pods from home to save a few dollars and make sure they have their preferred detergent. Just be sure to pack them in a sealed plastic bag to prevent leaks.

Use The Disney Cruise Line Navigator App To Help Manage Laundry

One of the best features is that you don’t have to sit in the laundry room waiting for your clothes. Or if the facilities are really busy, you don’t need to wait around until a machine becomes available!

The Disney Cruise Line Navigator app lets you:

  • Check which washers and dryers are available
  • Receive notifications when your load finishes

This makes it easy to start a load and head to the pool, enjoy a show, or grab lunch while your laundry finishes.

Tips for Avoiding Crowds

Laundry rooms tend to be busiest:

  • The last day of the cruise
  • Sea days
  • Evenings

If possible, consider doing laundry:

  • Early in the morning
  • During a port day when many guests are ashore
  • Mid-cruise instead of waiting until the final evening

This usually means less waiting for machines. The pictures you see in this post were all taken in the early morning. As you can see, nobody else was in there!

Full-Service Laundry & Dry Cleaning

If you’d rather not spend any vacation time doing laundry yourself, you can pay to have a Disney Cast Member do it for you. Disney even picks it up directly from your stateroom.

Inside your closet, there is a laundry bag. Just put your clothes inside, fill out the accompanying order form, and notify your Stateroom Host or Guest Services.

With standard service:

  • Notify by 9:00 AM for pick-up and next-day return

Need your clothes sooner?

Disney Cruise Line also offers Same-Day or Express Laundry Service (3 hours) for an additional charge

Pricing is charged per garment, not by the bag.

Full-Service & Dry Cleaning Prices

Prices vary and change, but here are my rough estimates for standard service.

Laundry Service

  • Shirts are about $1.50 to $4.50 each
  • Pants and shorts are priced by size, averaging around $6.50 per item.

Dry Cleaning

  • Approximately $5 to $12 per garment

Is Doing Laundry Worth It?

Opinions on this topic vary, but we think it’s a huge advantage!

Doing one load halfway through the cruise can let you:

  • Pack significantly fewer clothes
  • Bring home clean laundry
  • Save suitcase space for souvenirs
  • Avoid doing multiple loads after returning home
