Disney World Packing List (w/ PDF Download)

Between park days, pool time, and those late-night fireworks, you’ll need a little bit of everything to make your Disney World trip run smoothly.

Over the years (and MANY Disney trips later), I’ve fine-tuned what actually earns a spot in our suitcases and what can stay home. To save you the trial and error, the team at Be Prepared Vacations and I have created a Disney World packing list that covers it all.

If you just want the 4-page printable checklist, click here to download it.

But if you want my insider packing tips, such as the why behind certain items, what I never travel without, and how to handle Florida’s unpredictable weather, then keep reading!

Important Things to Consider When Packing

I tried to include everything you might need below. You’ll have to decide what’s truly necessary for your family. To help, ask yourself these three questions:

When are you going?

Florida summers are hot and humid, with almost daily afternoon showers. Winter months are milder, and mornings/evenings can be surprisingly cool. Pack accordingly!
When my family visits in January, we love having light jackets and sweatshirts at night.

Who’s going with you?

It’s always quick to pack for myself, but then there are the kids and all their essentials! You may also have grandparents coming. Make sure you consider everyone’s needs and comfort levels.

Where are you staying?

Disney resorts vary! Know what amenities your room offers (Disney provides hair dryers, mini-fridges, and soap/shampoo in most rooms).

Clothing

  • Shirts and tanks: Pack one lightweight top per day plus one extra. Tanks are great for those hot park days.
  • Shorts: Must-haves for warm weather and long park days.
  • Pants: Bring one pair for cool nights or chilly restaurant air-conditioning.
  • Walking shoes: You’ll easily walk 20,000+ steps in a day. Comfy, supportive shoes are essential!
  • Sandals/flip-flops: Perfect for pool days, water rides, or quick resort walks.
  • Socks: Fresh pairs every day. Trust me—reusing socks after 10 miles in Magic Kingdom heat is not the move.
  • Themed outfits or costumes: Disneybounding or matching shirts make adorable photos! Princess dresses, Mickey ears, and themed outfits are always a hit.
Princess dresses are always in style at Disney World.
  • Sunglasses: Crucial for the Florida glare.
  • Dress clothes/shoes: For signature dining spots like California Grill.
  • Pajamas
  • Underwear (and extras!)
  • Bras (including sports bras)
  • Belts
  • Hats/visors: Great for extra sun protection.
  • Swimsuits: Resort pools are open late. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are also lots of fun.
  • Jewelry: Minimal pieces for nicer dinners. Or Disney-themed for the parks.
  • Light jacket or sweatshirt: Evenings and indoor shows can be chilly.
My son and I are in warm clothing on a VERY cold day at Magic Kingdom.
  • Cover-up: For walking to and from the pool.
  • Workout clothes: If you plan to hit the gym, or just want to brag that you exercised before walking 10 miles.
  • Small backpack, belt bag, or fanny pack: Ideal for sunscreen, phone, wallet, and snacks.
